Fate Ondaba ("we") repairs and maintains homes and buildings. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you book with us, why, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect
- Contact details: your name, mobile number and email address.
- Property details: the address of the job, access notes and, for business accounts, company name and VAT number.
- Job details: the description and photos you upload, photos and reports our technicians add, quotes, invoices, messages and reviews.
- WhatsApp messages: if you choose WhatsApp updates, the messages we send you and any replies you send to our business number.
- Technical data: the minimum needed to keep you signed in and the site secure (a session cookie), your chosen app colour (a cookie), and files the installed app stores on your device so it opens quickly.
Why we use it
- To schedule, carry out and invoice the work you booked, and to prepare inspection reports, quotes and your maintenance budget.
- To send you booking updates by email and, if you opted in, WhatsApp: confirmation, technician details, arrival time, completion and changes.
- To answer your questions and handle complaints or warranty claims.
- To meet our tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your information or use it for advertising. We only send WhatsApp updates if you ticked the box when booking; reply STOP at any time to stop them.
Who we share it with
- The technician assigned to your job, who sees your name, number, address and job details.
- Service providers who run parts of our service for us: our web hosting provider, our email provider and Meta Platforms (WhatsApp Business Platform) for WhatsApp messages.
- Authorities, only where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Booking, invoice and payment records are kept for five years to meet tax requirements. Photos and messages are kept for as long as you have an account, or two years after your last job, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Your rights
You may ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, object to how we use it, or have it deleted. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
Deleting your data
To delete your account and personal information, email bookings@fateondaba.co.za with the subject "Delete my data" from the email address or mobile number you booked with (you can also send the request to our WhatsApp number). We will confirm within 30 days. Records we must keep by law, such as invoices, are retained but no longer used for anything else.
